Stuck on a Stitch??

Often times, when trying to decipher a pattern, I'll find myself stuck on a stitch I'm unfamiliar with or terminology I don't know.

When I encounter this problem, I turn to my trusty friend, about.com.

Try both knitting.about.com and crochet.about.com to find answers when you need them, not only do they often have wonderful free patterns and projects, but their search function is top notch and I always find a tutorial on what I'm looking for on the first try.

Hope it helps you all!

Amigurumi

I've become quite taken with Amigurumi as I come across it often in my online pattern searches and random research.  I am really trying to finish up a baby blanket for a Amy's friend before trying anything else but I'm really thinking it will be something from this talented crafter's site!

Does anyone out there have any experience with these kinds of things?  Booger's Care Bears come really close!!!

Two Great Needlecraft Books

I really love this book.  I've been using it a lot to pick up new stitches for the projects I've been working on.  Geri's Ridged Chevron Scarf came from a stitch in this book!

The hubby got this book for me for Christmas.  The Bubbles Blanket came from a square in this book I liked...

Any one else know of any good books out there?

Whats New PussyCat?

Not much... no real big projects in the works right now, just this basket weave stitch baby blanket I've been working on for over a year... in the last week I've gotten about three more inches in length on it though!

Remy's Scarf

I've got lots of yarn hanging around, so I made Remy, our neighbor's great dane a scarf out of some of it and they were kind enough to get her to model it for us!

There are actually two scarves there, one knit and one crocheted :).

Ridged Chevron Stitch

From my current favorite book "The Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches," I've fallen in love with the Ridged Chevron Stitch. Softer than the standard chevron and oh so easy, I love the way it flows in the Caron Simply Soft yarns. Here I've used a very pale blue to make a scarf for a special friend who's moving to colder climes.

Yarn Storage

Thanks, Simone, for this wonderful yarn storage idea.

I went out and got an over-the-door plastic shoe rack (cheap, $13 at Wal-Mart) and five minutes later, 24 skeins of yarn (actually 27 since I had some small skeins I put together in one pocket) are stored out of sight... the sad part? I still have A LOT of yarn not stored there in my yarn bag and basket...
